Why should Hendrick give up the 5 for Jr or anybody?

Hendrick’s first car was #5 driven by Geoff Bodine. That number IS Hendrick Motorsports history, why is there even any discussion of what number Jr will drive? Would Petty Enterprises hire a new driver and let him come in and say “change the 43″?
Jr made his decision now he needs to accept the 5. If Rick drops the 5 after all these years I will NEVER cheer for another HMS driver (Gordon, Johnson, Busch, Earnhardt, NO ONE)
